Five Friday: Your Best Engagement Photos

Snapshot ideas to capture your love

By JESSICA SMITHWICK

Capture the authenticities of your relationship in front of the flash and share your engagement through your very best engagement photos! Scenic backdrops, sunset lighting, vintage props and bold color are just a few themes seen in today’s engagement photo realm. Mix in some favorite flair, meaningful memories and sentimental settings and your engagement photos will be one of kind, full of love, laughter and celebration. Here are just a few ideas from Blu to make your engagement photos the best of the best!

1. Favorite Flairs

Incorporating a few of his and hers favorites {food, hobbies, landmarks, clothes} turns your standard photo into one of personal meaning and memory. The romantic couple? Throw in a picnic theme, or a gleaming sunset back drop. The playful couple? Shoot a carnival theme, or add some traditional party fun {balloons & streamers anyone?}. The sweet couple? Add some sugary smiles with candy store shots and dessert infused props. Personalize your photos with some of your favorite flair to make them your own!

2. Classic & Traditional

Sticking with the traditional his and hers, black and white photo? Spice it up with some off setting prints, patterns and backdrops. If black and white attire is not your thing, transform your colorful images to black and white prints for some variety. Or, add a single touch of color {bold and bright} to an all over black and white shot. Shoot your style, and if classy is it, then capture your class with a traditional black and white statement!

3. Celebration & Fun

Feeling a little camera shy in front of the flash? Stray away from those “center of attention” nerves and loosen the vibe with a fun and silly photo activity! Try popping a bottle of champagne and celebrating in the aftermath, embracing a childish squirt gun fight or laughing amongst an array of youthful bubbles! Participating in a playful activity in front of the lens transforms the “camera shy” to “spotlight diva” resulting in truly authentic photos.

 4. San Francisco Locale

Engaged in the city? Why not capture the magnificent monuments of SF while photographing your love among some of San Francisco’s best landmarks and city trademarks. Try posing in the Presidio, stand among the Sutro Baths near the Cliff House, include a Golden Gate backdrop or climb aboard one of SF’s one of a kind cable cars. Whether it’s a meaningful tradition or a city hot spot, mixing in some of your favorite city landmarks will turn your engagement photos into the perfect timely treasure!

5. Vintage

Vintage is all the rage in many of today’s chic styles. Whether it’s apparel, decor or photographs a splash of vintage vibe is oh so chic! Why not vintage up your engagement shots with a few antique touches? Classic chandeliers, rustic couches and worn suitcases are just a few vintage prop choices that can transform your modern shot to vintage photo.

Whether you throw in a vintage twist or stick with a traditional theme, don’t forget to share your personalities, favorite things and meaningful places! Wear your best outfits, be yourself and share the love to make your engagement photos something to swoon over for years to come!
